Bistrot Neuf – We are opening again!

Finally! From June 1 we are officially open again for our guests!

With the necessary measures and the narrow Amsterdam building, we can unfortunately not place more than 28 guests in our restaurant in a responsible manner. This ensures that we only work on reservation and with timetables. Maybe annoying, but necessary.

For example, if you book at 6:00 PM, the table will be available until 8:30 PM. If you book a table at 8:30 pm, you can of course stay longer. Reservations for 4 people are only possible if this concerns a joint household and we will ask you about your health regarding the Corona virus when you make a reservation and when you enter our restaurant.

Despite these restrictions, we are looking forward to receiving you back in our Bistrot again. Reservations can be made at the bottom right of the website or by telephone at 020-4003210.

Bistrot Neuf on the Haarlemmerstraat number 9 is all about true, authentic French food. Cozy and uncomplicated dining with a menu carefully paired with our extensive selection of wines. In other countries, this formula has registered a great success, for instance, in Italy, there is the Trattoria/ enoteca, in Spain, the Tapas Bars and, of course, in France, the bistrot bar-á-vin. In Belgium, it’s called a tavern and, in the Netherlands, the bistrot is simply known as a café, an unpretentious place to eat, a concept between a restaurant and a bar.

In addition to serving dinner we are one of the few places in the centre of Amsterdam that serves a warm lunch as well, so our kitchen is open all day long. The menu is inspired by the French cuisine and we only use fresh seasonal products.

The"Au crieurs de Vin"

“Au crieurs de Vin” means screamer for wine.
Neuf is the only bistrot in Amsterdam where you can choose from 75 different kinds of wine, all served by the glass. We have more than 250 wines on stock and a key to the door of our lovely neighbours Chabrol Wines. This store is the heaven for wine lovers, as you can find anything your heart wishes for. From Touraine Sauvignon to Saint Aubin 1er cru, even the best wines from St. Emilion, and the best part is that they are all offered by the glass. Furthermore, we also have seven choices of sparkling wine available by the glass.

At Bistrot Neuf you can choose to spend an entire evening enjoying our lovely wine and food, cozy atmosphere and kind staff, as well as to stop by for a quick delicious bite.

We are very proud to announce that Bistrot Neuf was awarded in the 2017 Michelin guide, recognizing our high levels of comfort, decor and service that we provide to our customers. And we are also thrilled to have been included since 2014 in the Gault & Millau.


 

The Place To Come Back To

Bistrot Neuf is one of the top of mind places in Amsterdam to always return when you’re in the mood for authentic French food, great location, sophisticated & wide wine list, and relaxed atmosphere. Trust our word also because:

  • Our kitchen is open every day till 23:00 hrs. You can pop by in the afternoon for some delicious escargots, cote de boeuf or lobster, basically for warm, tasty lunch plates that many restaurants don’t offer as their kitchen closes between 15.00 and 18.00hrs.
  • You can drink more than 75 wines by the glass.
  • If you can’t find a wine on our list, (hard to think of this as we have 250 on stock :)) just step inside at our neighbour store Chabrol; you pick your fav bottle of wine at Chabrol and enjoy it at Neuf.
  • Location is central, on one of the nicest streets of Amsterdam, Haarlemmerstraat. The Central Station is only 5-minute walk and the train to Schiphol takes about 15 min. So, in case you’re in transit, just come in for an oyster.
  • A dynamic, motivated team is willing to serve you every day with lots of passion for gastronomy.

Peoplebehind Neuf

Rex Neve studied oenology in Bordeaux. In 1987, he was the youngest Dutch viticulturist and one of the first Dutch wine masters. Rex has earned great respect within the wine trading industry, he worked for different well-known catering companies and, in 1991, he started Chabrol Wines, which proved to be a very successful business. In 2009, he opened the second Chabrol store in Amsterdam, and he also co-founded Bistrot Neuf. He is dedicated to sharing his knowledge with his team at Bistrot Neuf.

Robert Peppelenbos is the co-founder of Bistrot Neuf. He’s also the owner of restaurant Stout and (catering) company CulinairExpert. His broad knowledge often leads to companies and individuals asking his advice on anything from sustainability and vegetarian food to customer relations. His great organisational skills, deep love for authentic food make him a leader in his field.

Chef Pascal Tooms is the head of our classic kitchen and for the past 25 years he’s been working in the French cuisine. Along with his passionate Sous-chef Tom Buysse, they push the limits of their creativity, with great commitment for the highest food quality as well as a stable and motivated team.
